Talking fresh and whole. Which is a different question from just the woods themselfs.
I'm in a situation where it is safe to cut fresh branches and whole saplings for my birds, and I would like to. I am isolated from any roads or anything like that and I do not spray anything and the surrounding lands are all hunting forest and not managed with any sprays or anything like that. The nearest spot that gets sprayed is down a cliff, across a creek, and thru some trees. To be safe tho I would cut from the other side of my 60 acre property.
