Perhaps not. Crows will certainly give them a good run for their money. Google Crow Vending Machine and be prepared to be amazed by the intelligence of these fascinating animals. Remember these are wild crows and not the subject of a controlled scientific experiment like Alex.

I think the Kea has both of them beat.

LMAO.... OMG was that a chick?!.... they eat Meat?! It looks like a parrot Not a bird of prey!

It is a parrot! A very, very, smart parrot. A parrot that can take your car apart in less then 20 minutes. They are smart.

Ive always been told and belived that Ravens hold the crown for smarest bird....

They did I test, and it took the Kea less time to figure out the same test they gave the raven. I will have to look for it.

so the Kea is a parrot.. does that mean all the larger parrots eat meat too? Ive seen posts where people give their birds cooked chicken, and other things, including raw fish, (sashimi) doing this wont hurt them? Ive heard about the things most parrots eat in the wild, but Ive never heard of macaws or other parrots eating meat... until the Kea.

Kea's don't really eat the meat part, they eat the fat. That helps them survive the winter. At least that is what I got out of it.

I have to ask, what about that chick? it may be young and tender but birds have little fat on them, unless they are of the barnyard type. sorry, baffled, Ive never expected to see a parrot of any kind going after meat... er.. fat...

I know budgies are known to be omnivorous. I think they've been seen eating carcasses in the wild and breeders sometimes give them chicken carcasses for protein.
Budgie hens will eat other hen's chicks and eggs if they want that nest spot.

C mon. Are we compairing what species are smarter BLAWWAWA.
ALL BIRDS ARE SMART!! There ravens acually seen Droping walnuts into cross walks for cars to run them over (open them). Wait for red light and feast. Keas are proven to do use KEYS to unlock doors. Both are smart. My Sammy hides his foot toys. And I can't fine em!! But every morning he has it lol. Call that what you want. To me all parrots are as smart as one another. Wild parrots have a higher SURVIVAL instinct. Original generation so your both wrong. All parrots are smart equally and can figure anything out.
IMO IMO IMO. Jk you both are right lol

I do not think you can compare a wild bird like a Raven and a AG that is a companion bird. They live in two very differrent environments. However, if you were to compare a wild AG and Raven it may be a dead heat. Ravens and parrots are both considered to be some of the smartest animals in the world, however:AG parrots can associate words and their meanings to form sentences: They communicate with their own with songs, calls and even body language! I know Ravens have developed the skill of using tools to get what they want. Perhaps the wild grey does also.

Anyway, this is an interesting question.

Yea Greys are really smart!! Amazons too!
But I like to look at them all as equal. :)

My dad had a regular, run of hte mill crow named billy... He could pick locks, talk in full sentences, and do just about anything. Incredible incredible bird...
