I inherited about 600 bird talk magazines and one article was talking about food servings..
Soooo many of us just give birdie a whole sprig of millet..
i thought i was reducing it by cutting it into thirds and giving each conure 1/3rd..
you'd be shocked what the recommended daily serving is.. oh my! I think we are all guilty of this! this is the recommended serving for a single conure, three sections from a single millet sprig..
and to think, i give my cockatiels a single sprig a day!!

I never give my birds a whole sprig, they get REALLY grumpy and sleepy lol I stopped buying millet, so if my birds get millet it's a party to them . When I used to give millet it would be a stem a week

great :) i will no longer be putting any inside of the cage. they can only have it when they are on the couch watching a cartoon with me. however, it seems to be a very important aspect to my tiels daily life. and they are 18 and 22 so, they can enjoy their elderly years :P

A lot of people don't realise that there is also millet in their seed diets too.

We used to hang a sprig in every 5-7 days or so, basically a 'junk food saturday' type thing :p

My budgies end up sharing half of one once a week. They love it! It makes such a mess though! I'll pick those little sections off and hand them to Carlisle and Kayak to eat, they love holding it in their feet and tearing it apart. It'll take the budgies awhile to make their way through it.

I've also heard that millet contains a mold, too much can cause intestinal problems.
my birds only get 1 a week, and it's gone in minutes. sometimes I add organic millet to my birds seed, rather than giving the other millet.

wow. i didn't know that.
question--is millet "addictive" like sunflower seeds?

i only recently started giving millet to 30 yr old. i have it in a snack dish in all three of his cage/playpens every day. YIKES! i have lost total control of pritti's diet since i started nutriberries 2-3 weeks ago. he won't eat pellets at all now unless i disguise them completely. even then, only a drop. so the millet and nutriberries r what he waits for or doesn't eat - not even much of his fac fresh foods.
