In general, female budgies are "beakier" than males. They chew on and destroy things more, and this beakiness seems to carry over to biting hands when they don't want to be touched. If I try to hold any female budgie I've ever had with my hand wrapped around her body I get bitten pretty hard regardless of how tame she is. My males either don't bite or just nibble a bit.
Aside from this, female budgies can make wonderful pets. I love their independence. Males can be too socially needy but the girls seem to be able to entertain themselves well when they're alone. I spend a lot of time watching the social behavior of my small free flying flock of 12, six males and six females, ranging from human tolerant to human bonded like Rocky. Except for Rocky and her boyfriend Beau, the females pay little attention to each other and only pay slightly more attention to the males. The girls mind their own business. They hang out where they want, fly around, sample the cage-top buffet, chew on toys, and toss objects off the cage. The boys interact with each other much more and try to flirt with the girls, but the girls don't respond much unless they're very hormonal.
I would NOT get Pilot a budgie friend. If you got a male you may have to deal with unwanted breeding. If you got another female, Pilot may either ignore or fight with her. Look back and read your earliest posts about Pilot when you first got her- you've come so far!
The other amazing, beautiful female budgie we see a lot of on PF is Sushi. She's also very photogenic, winning POTM at least once.
