Baby Broccoli

Welcome back @ravvlet, we missed you!! So good to see you and your flock, baby Broccoli is looking SOOOOOOOOOOOOO handsome!! šŸ˜
Oof, he’s very handsome but very troublesome.

I had my older kid in my office trying to get her to do make up work for school and she snapped at me, so he marched over and bit the snot out of her ear! Now she’s scream sobbing and Broccoli seems proud of himself. Ugh. Never a dull moment…

Yeah, good to see you, Rav and the Broccmeister!

Broccoli and Kirby are doing well. Broccoli has finally stopped teasing Kirby every time I let them out together, and they’ve even engaged in some tentative mutual grooming, although Brocc is understandably hesitant to let Kirby groom him back.

Broccoli also has a brand new cage - he originally had one of those Yaheetech flight cages, but when I was parrot sitting a friend’s parrotlet at my house, he wanted to get to the other bird so bad he figured out he could SNAP the bars, because the welds were so cheap.

Never a dull moment. He’s still grumpy with the kids but becoming more tolerant of the older one, but he manages to behave himself in public (like at fly day) so I guess I can’t complain too much.

He’s currently chewing my phone and my fingers as I try to type this.

Welcome back @ravvlet, it's so good to see you and Kirby and Baby Broccoli again! šŸ˜

That top pic looks a lot like this one I have of Peachie and Lovejoy, except Lovejoy's reaching for Peachie's pretty toes. Not that Lovejoy has a foot fetish or anything!

Have you seen this month's POTM contest? I think that pic would make a wonderful entry!

AWE!! I just adore Broc's sleepy expression. SO cute!

I swear they’ve only started being friendly this week. Broccoli did chase Kirby around a bit but eventually settled down.

Honestly Kirby could use the exercise so I’m not mad about it, haha.

Brocc sure has grown up! I can't wait to see more as he ages!

I think he turns three this year? In April or early May - they didn’t have his hatch date. I think maybe his little teen hormones are settling down and he’s being a lot nicer as a result.

That, or he’s accepted that Kirby is better at head scratches than me so he had better play nice. 🤪

Did I tell you they had a Peachie at the local parrot store? She was so cute and charming, I was seriously tempted, but we have an elderly chihuahua (he’s 14!) and we can’t afford another animal who needs $300+ annual vet exams 😭

Which is a shame, because Debbie Goodrich lives near me and she has the most charming DYH Amazon looking for a home, and if I won the lottery I’d ask if we could see how she did with our boys. 😭 Broccoli said hi to her at fly day this week and I think she’s the reason he decided to start being nicer to Kirby. I wish I’d gotten a photo.

Oh how wonderful, that must've been a real treat cos you don't see them that often in the pet shops, not even over here! They are VERY cute and charming, my Peachie is just the sweetest girlie, even though she has decided she likes my hubby more than me  Still love her to bits though šŸ’–

That’s so rough. I’m bird sitting for someone, and Broccoli is upset about new birds in the house (although he’s met these two before) and has been coming at me aggressively the way he usually does with my wife and it really hurt my feelings! I am such a wuss about it.

Our bonus birds are here through next weekend, so it’s not forever, but he started trying to shield Kirby from me (who was ironically trying to get me to pick him up to get the crazy conure to back off). I actually had to bribe him with a toy because he followed Kirby inside his cage!!

After I got Kirby situated he settled down and even flew over for some kisses. I think he’s just freaked about the two new birds; it’s their first full day together and he reacted similarly when we had a friend’s parrotlet staying over.

It’s good stimulation for them and the birds are both fully vetted and everything but dang, it can be nerve wracking the first day or so.
