Hello. I just brought home a baby greenwing macaw on Sunday. When we got home we noticed she had a little cough and some wetness in her mouth. We took her to the vet today and she is supposed to have 2ml of clavamox twice daily and 1 ml of fluconazole once daily. I have dealt with this once before with a sun conure a long time ago, and I have hand fed a parrotlet so I have a little experience with the syringe feeding. Obviously, conures and parrotlets are a lot easier. I tried to give my macaw her meds and she kept shaking it out of her mouth. I feel a huge lack of confidence, I am so afraid I am going to make her aspirate on the meds. It has been a long time since I have done this so maybe I'm not doing it right? How can I get her to stop shaking ALL of her meds out? what should I do to keep her from choking on her medication? Also the vet said she is a little male nourished and needs protein. She said to give her eggs and nuts. She won't really eat anything I give her except the food she was weaned onto by her breeder. So far I have tried walnuts, kale, boiled egg, carrots, and bananas to no avail. Thank you for any and all advise
