Baby Robin

I wish people didn't allow cats to roam under any circumstance!

One you really can’t tell is a baby out of my 2 robins anymore. The parents are no longer involved with the one. The other one they are currently trying to ditch. When the baby flys anywhere near the parents they are flying off, and when the baby begs for food they ignore. It’s an odd thing to watch.

Very cute! I adore my song birds too. I would love to rehabilitate a Raven, or Crow just to be able to work with their intellect.

I like crows and ravens. My great uncle on his farm encouraged them. Said they were the best coyote detectors around. They worked for a bit of chicken feed and bread crumbs. Crows and ravens have weird federal and state laws about them. That vary from protected to nuisances. The fines in some states is outrageous. He said those laws were as stupid as the people who made them. Because the birds were smarter than people. I thought it was funny.

When I was very little, 2 or 3 years old my parents took us to the worlds fair in Seattle Wa.
We visited someone up there that had a Raven as a pet. I have no memory of the bird (but was terrified at the fair and had a memory burned in I’ll never forget) and was told how the bird would steal and hide shiny objects. I would gladly trade memories.

There was a big heart that you could walk through with sound effects of the heart pumping. I was being pushed in a stroller and I screamed bloody murder. I didn’t want to go through. My mom picked me up and carried me through the display.
Just terrified.
And I remember the display right after.
Two lungs one smoker and one non smoker.
Strange how well I remember even though I couldn’t be older than 3.

I thought about your saying that about stealing shiny. My uncle and aunt were unconcerned. (Age showing) Aunt did laundry outside, large cauldron boiling water, smaller one with washing board, rings and necklace on porch rail. She'd remove loose shiny buttons from Sunday best and other things. But it was always the blue jays she hustled away. The crows and few ravens just watched but didn't touch. I guess it was because they were worried about their meal ticket. Blue jays don't have the bad rap. I'm wondering if someone somewhere playing on this trait trained a few to be thieves. Take jewelry off window ledge, good ones could do a fly by. Crows and ravens are smart, agile, mischievous and things they enjoy they do well, good or bad. Sounds a lot like my grey or any of your parrots doesn't it?

My biggest problem was a Cockatiel that would steal the keys of my laptop and then fly away with it.
Not shiny but irresistible, I’ve heard others with similar stories.

As a kid we had indoor cats that would come outside on a chain. The blue jays would sneak up on them to pull hair out, I guess to line nests.
