Chevy one of my Cockatoo's just started yesterday banging her beak on my shoulder, repeatedly. I have no idea why she started doing this.

She will just climb on my shoulder and bang away, I tell her to stop, she will, for about 30 seconds and start again. I thought maybe it was just something she just did for the day. Wrong, she has started doing it already today. It's not like I am not paying attention to her and she wants attention so I was hoping someone could give me and idea why she is doing it.

I laughed when it first happened and told my husband I am going to get a bruise from all the banging, but he is doing it so much now I really think I will end up with one.

Any suggestions what I should do? Or why she is doing it?

From what I can gather it can mean you are being claimed to feeling sexy and you could be the mate in mind so watch for regurgitating. Keep up with socialising this 'too and this will help. If she is doing it too much pass her over.

BB the teil does that quite a bit with me. Granted, his beaky isn't has large as Chevy's..he'll do it four or five times in a row, stop for a time, then repeat. I think its kind of cute actually lol..Maybe a form of endearment?

Smokes,my TAG,would do that to my forehead like she was saying "Hellooooo...is anybody in there?"

One of my male cockatiels does this. mostly on hard substances that will make a noise. I read it is to call a female to a nesting site.
