Beans.....??

The thing with peanuts is that if they're in the shell they need to be roasted to kill off any fungi that could harm your parrot. You can buy them roasted or roast them in the oven yourself. But always make sure they're UNSALTED.

I think it's fine. I sometimes do it (I try not to give too much peanuts because of how fatty they are).

If you are giving them in the shell then you should roast them. As stated before it could have fungi that could cause your parrot to become ill. It's sometimes seen (black dots) and even if it isn't it could still be contaminated.

The best type of peanuts to give your companion is human grade. Sometimes in certain mixes the peanuts are low quality.

Yes heat kills the fungus that grows on peanut shells. But the fungus can still grow after you heat/cook/sterilize the shells. It's all about being fresh. If your buying fresh, then the fungus could still be an issue if stored too long. The fungus could become an issue with any product if stored too long. Always check the expiration date on any and all foods, and store properly.

Unless peanuts are in the pellets I feed my birds, I do not feed peanuts at all. Peanuts are not actual nuts and feeding real nuts can be healthier for them anyway.

In regards to beans, adzuki, mung, garbonzo, peas and lentils can be fed cooked or sprouted. These beans are the least harmful and healthiest to feed.

All other beans must be fully cooked for human consumption to remove the toxins from them. I have fed other beans in the past but no longer do. I like not having to worry about whether or not I've fully cooked the beans so that they are safe to eat.
