Cinn Green Cheek Conure Rexx
Bellas my sun conure, shes a tangarine sun. right in between red factors and i cant remember the orignal suns name. But shes has molted to a beautiful orange. shes 17 months.
enjoy

Wow she's so beautiful!! I've never heard of a Tangerine sun before, only red factors :p. I'm loving the color though! What a beautiful birdie :D!

Very pretty!!!! :)

Thanks guys

Is there another name for Tangerine conure? I cannot find it in my reference book Parrots of the World.

I can't find it either.... from what I read it says red factor can have reddish orange....

Every time I see a Sun Conure I always want one, BUT I cannot at this time handle the noise... LOL I will wait to the kids are older and I own my home before I go with a BIGGER parrot. One day after handling Macaws more I will get one. Not anytime soon though. I have never see a Sun Conure as orange as yours, she is absolutely beautiful!

It's a newer sub species to the sun there's blue even too. I'll find the pic to show you.
And yes there is a diffrent name. I found this out on another forum. I'll talk to the person who told me. But yea there is. Always use the the term parakeet when searching newer sub species of conures too. It will help tons. Example. Sun conure. Sun parakeet
Gold capped parakeet. Golden parakeet. It provides a more detailed search.

The blue one is gonna AMAZE you guys.

Its interesting how they do that...but by going through a lot of inbreeding and such...then genetic defects comes around....

She's definitely a beautiful girl!

OK so info has been returned to me, and might i say im quite happy with what iv learned..

I found out that "tangarine" is prolly not the best way to describe it, but because the colour morph was unable to produce red..
the "tangarine" is not a sub species but rather a mutation. this "tangarine" mutation also include the following species..Orangeface roseicollis, the Yellowface fischeri, the Yellowface Cockatiel and Yellow phase Lorikeets.

"These Sun Conures are Red Suffused birds, equivalent to a Redfronted Turq or Scarlet-chested Parrots. There are strains of this mutation in other species as well, such as Princess parrots".

"This mutation is not produced by simple genetics, but is the result I believe, of tandem repeats in a gene that allows red pigmentation in the particular species. Tandem repeats are repeated segments within genes that amplify its effects and they are now known to be the basis of most selective breeding to 'improve traits'. Through dedicate work, breeders are able to gradually select for an 'improvement' in a trait, in effect selecting for individuals with more and more tandem repeats in their Red Suffusion gene."

the pictures below are diffrent mutations of the species.
turqoise, all yellow, and lutino

I've seen the blue one in pictures before but can never find much about them. They are truly stunning and I would love to have one.

Very beautiful. I can remember not to long ago when "Caesar" our Sun molted for the 1st time.....I was so worried, especially when his tail fethers fell out :) He looked so small without them. Now he is a beautiful little boy about 14 months old. Some really nice pics in my album.

Thanks for the post.

Yea. Duck butt lol. Bella had it too on her first molt. This is her second. She molted though more gradually.

It's interesting seeing the two next to each other for a size comparison. I didn't realise the Suns were so much bigger. They are closer to a Lorikeet or Rosella.

I'm guessing the get along well? They look snugglie.

It's funny you say that. Iv heard that a few other times too.
And they are. Can't separate them. They have to be around eachother 24 7.
I was told my bond with Bella would be gone tameness wise If I allowed the 2 to be around eachother. Now there housed together and still Bella is my orange beauty and rexx my tiny giant
