Black Palm Cockatoo

Anyone with experience with the Palms?

Are they loud and noisy?

I saw one at my local Parrot store and fell in love with this amazing creature.

Thoughts?

The first thought that comes to my mind is EXPENSIVE!

I would assume that yes, they are loud and noisy as any cockatoo can be.

I think they are beautiful and have never actually seen one in person. Lucky you! I wish I could have been there

Its unlike any bird I've ever encountered.
It looked like something out of a movie. It move very gracefully but in a strange way. It was very friendly and just wanted to be loved. If you ever get a chance to see one up close and personal, you'll be amazed.

A Too loud and noisy? Really where did you meet that one? Their usually so quiet. Just kidding, LOL. Yes black palms are noisy, and can be very loud (larger the Too = the more noise it can make). Its debatable but they are considered to be the most intelligent of the Toos. Do you know what that means? Harder to keep happy.

For crazy people (referring to Too people, whether you know your one or not) I think they would be fun - if in the right environment. Definitely not a bird that would be able to be caged much without having problems. Would probably benefit from an aviary type situation with a TON of mental stimulation.

Black Palms are a favorite of mine. I'm glad you got to meet one, they are truly breathtaking.

I've seen them, but, have no experience owning one. I understand that in addition to being very expensive, they can be a bit difficult. (A cockatoo, difficult?) The only one that I've ever touched was at a bird show/fair. It was very friendly, and beautiful. It knew a few words, and was well behaved. It stepped up for me, and let me pet its' head. It was not for sale. Just on exhibit.
