Hyacinth Macaw; 'Blue' (born July 2013)
Hi All,

My name is Blue and I am a rather mischievous Hyacinth Macaw! I am just 2 and a half and so am a bit of a baby really, but I love playing with my Daddy who's my best mate in all the world (apart from myself in the mirror!). Of course my Daddy is completely mad but I do my best to humour him as you'll see :-) Great to meet you all Blue xxx :blue:

Typical playtime for mush mac... that's fun!

He's beautiful...

I'm actually very surprised there aren't more holes in your curtains when they're that close to the cage... My Maggie (GW) would find chewing up (and climbing) curtains irresistible.

Welcome to the forums, Blue! Beautiful bird, thanks for sharing the video!

I'm in loveeee with the little stinker! (and with your wallpaper :D )

Beautiful bird! Welcome to the forum Blue and Blues dad! :D

Welcome! You're so lucky to have a Hyacinth!

Oh my gosh! I've turned into melted butter over here! :32: What an absolute GORGEOUS baby boy your Blue is! Welcome, welcome, welcome! SO good to 'meet you'. :D (....wonders off and hugs her macaws now....)

He is incredibly gently in his play and only really uses that mega 'honk' on plastics and of course rings on peoples fingers . . . (he has no concept that there might be flesh underneath 'said' ring and so just does the rescuplting in-situ . . A & E locally is decidedly less enamoured with him! I adore him though. I'll try and make another equally bonkers video when I get a mo :-) Thanks M

I am incredibly lucky and he is just so lovely (as well as captivating) I can't tell you. He comes out with me into town (and everywhere else) daily and getting anywhere or anything done is almost impossible as people keep stopping me in the street but he looooves all the fuss (as you can imagine) :-)

Welcome to the forum! What a beautiful macaw you have there! And sweet and seemingly well-socialized to boot!

Yes, it's all an illusion for the camera!! No seriously, he comes out into town most days and has probably met around 800/900 people in four months (and had his Photo taken on more than a few), so he is highly socialised but also very demanding as he likes his jaunts out to see hie 'fans'. Get the camera rolling and he'll do anything - stinky creature!!!

Blue is a beautiful bird. I love the video of you interacting, it cracked me up :).

I'm so glad - we do get along great but I'm concerned he may be the adult in this relationship and I'm the bird brain!!! :-)

Yesterday, Blue amazed us. He frequently takes blue tooth headsets or in this case my Partners hearing aid from her ear to play with (not allowed) and then he hides them inside his beak under his tongue so we don't notice and he can chew them later . . . (a bit of a Pelicans beak story really!). Well yesterday, he hopped on my Partner over playtime and before she knew it, took the hearing aid and then immediately (and before we could notice) flew over to his cage and quickly dropped it ON TOP of the cage bars and flew back to play. We searched high and low for this thing and put Blue in his cage - no sign, nothing on the floor, nothing on the floor of this cage and nothing in the room so we left to look around the house.
On popping in (just by chance) we saw him manoevering the unit from the underside of the ceiling of his cage to play with now that 'he was safe'!! We shouted Blue! at which point he hastily threw it away (a la drugster having been caught by the Police) and looked sheepishly at us!!
What amazes me, is he planned in advance to get it, took into account we would search his beak (which we usually do) and decided he could (and did) outsmart us!!
