Bring GCC at work

Hello everyone,

i'm a new owner of a GCC since 9 days. I have a question : is it possible for me to bring the bird at work with his cage ? Will he be "traumatized" by his temporary environnement ? Instead of letting him at home alone from 8 to 4, i would love bring him with me, which is something possible with the people i work with.

He seems relaxed most of the time and he is about 1 year and 3 months.

I personally wouldn't every day. Think of everything that's toxic to a bird and ask if everyone you work with would be okay going with that stringent set of rules? Plus would the colleagues be okay with squawking? Especially when on the phone it might not go so well

there's nothing wrong with leaving them at home during the day. It teaches them how to self-entertain whilst you're away. Unfortunately we can't be at their beck and call 24/7

I bring my tiel to work as an emotional support animal. He likes to go out. I take all my birds to my shop where my second job is. They enjoy it a lot. I don't always take them though, sometimes I feel like they get bored. I need more toys though to take with us. I would weigh how your coworkers react and watch his body language. He may not like going out of his comfort zone but I think with some positive encouragement he will end up enjoying being with his parront all day!

I think you could ? the most common toxins to parrots are usually from the kitchen, like teflon. But in an office space it's usually computers, papers, and coffee right ? Unless someone likes to paint their nails at their desk or spray aerosol cans, I can't see the harm in it.

I know some people have set up a cage at work if they have the ability to bring their bird to work, complete with lots of toys and fun activities. If it's a viable option, I say go for it. Honestly I'm jealous But first, just make sure your coworkers are okay with their new feathered friend's occasional screaming. Conures are pretty flexible, unlike other parrot species, and he'll probably be good with his changing environment once he understands the routine.

Depends on the work, I take my bird shopping to local stores that I know don't mind, not big chain stores. It depends how social-able the bird is and what not. It's not a firm no or a firm yes. I think owners aren't very selfish and tend to make the best choices. But I'd give it more than 9 days....make sure you have a firm unbreakable bond first.

I know my conure would love to go to work with me. He loves going for drives and is never traumatized wherever I take him. He often joins us to visit family or a drive to the store, for example. As others above have stated, make sure you know your bird as some birds MAY get stressed from something like that. Also, make sure your work is fine with it. I know I couldn't take my brat to work because if I am out of sight, his contact calls will clear the place! LOL. Good luck!
