So, my mother and I have come to realize that my sister's budgie's have inadvertently become "our" budgies. Here's an example of our little argument my mom and I had with her last sunday about cleaning the cage. Keep in mind, this happened while I was in the midst of my 4 hour long cleaning session for my birds' cages, playstands, and outside cage. We had them outside to get some fresh air.
Mom: "Rachell, I need you to come down here and clean your birds cage"
Sister: "I have plans, you just don't want me to be able to do anything today, but whatever"
-Sister goes outside, separates pan from cage and changes paper, then puts it back together and walks away.
Mom: "Umm, excuse me..they're water is filled with poop and their perches and toys are covered in it. You need to clean them"
Sister: "I don't care. They're the ones that pooped on them so obviously it doesn't bother them"
-They argue for awhile. My sis decides to clean the perches, and leaves the HUGE cage door open (outside, mind you) with two untame budgies flitting about inside the cage. I am amazed that they didn't both just fly away.
Mind you, this takes approximately 5 minutes to do, while I'm spending half of my day cleaning MY birds stuff.
Now my question is...what cage should we get them. My mom and I don't like their current cage and wanted to get them a new one. I don't have a ton of money to spend, so $70 is my max. I don't really know what budgie's require, so I was wondering if anyone here had suggestions. I was looking at some of the cages at www.demsondpetdepot.com but didn't know which was best. It definitely needs a stand though. We have cats.
Can anyone look at that website and suggest a few? Sorry I can't put pics up of any, this computer sucks worse than the last one I had.
