Military Macaw (Wingnut)
Citron Crested Cockatoo
(Knuckles)
Oh man. I feel so bad, and I didn't know I would bleed that much.
As much fun as it is, it's hard having three young birds. They all want attention, and they all want you to NOT pay attention to the others. They are all so very dear to me, and I try very hard to devote enough attention, and spend one on one time with each bird, as well as have family- all together - Birdy time.
Wingnut and Loki have been here longer, and always seem to get more dedicated time than Knuckles. Particularly now, since she's been moved out of our room. I have been compensating, by waking up early, and having Knucky-only time, before the Macaws come out. The Macs are still getting mushy mushy love love momma time.
Tonight was my moms 75th birthday, and when we got home from dinner, I took Knucky out for some special time. After only a few minutes, my boyfriend bought the Macs out.....hey, it's a family occasion! Wingnut was on his big boy free standing perch, Knucky was on my arm, and Loki was on her table top perch, right in front of me. Everyone was getting seeds and pets. Loki was agitated. Annoyed. I was trying to pay attention to both her and Knucky, but I looked up, and she was staring at me. The bird equivalent of an evil eye? Don't know. I didn't want her feeling anything negative, so I had her step up, and I brought her close, and WHAM!!!!! She NAILED me, right in the center of my upper lip. Ow. I look like I spent thousands on Botox. I'm bleeding like a second rate prize fighter.
Birdy daddy quickly removed her, and placed her back in her cage, in the other room. I feel so bad. I recognized the look in her eyes. It was pure hurt. She was jealous that Knucky was on my shoulder. The look in her eyes hurts more than my fat lip. I need to go in and tell her I love her. I feel so bad. I need her to know how much I love her
