Button & Ava

I received these cute new footie toys for Ava Nimbus. A fruit fly and a toy that holds a bead on a wooden dowel in a piece of birch. Both made in Canada. My husband is back from his business trip, and both of his birds (and both of his humans) are so happy to have the whole flock together again. 🥰

I made my birds a small batch of chop this morning. I usually use freeze-dried chop (rehydrated), but I’m out and not expecting the order to arrive for a few more days. This has a small amount of Bird Street Bistro (I keep some on hand in case I’m in a pinch) mixed in, and should last about 3 weeks. With any luck, they’ll like it, but it tastes good to me! 😆

I can see why it tastes good to you. That's screaming add me to a casserole, soup, pot pie! I make my chop so I can eat it too.

I made chop this week too! Tastes yummy.
Where do you get freeze dried chop?

I order it from BirdTricks! I think there are a few other companies that make it as well. I like using it for a few reasons: it stores for a long time, it doesn’t take up freezer space, my birds typically like their chop recipes, & reliably finding the produce I want to use for chop here can be a bit iffy at times. I just add water to a portion each night before bed, put it in the fridge, and it’s ready for the morning.

I looked at Bird Tricks seasonal freeze dried food. At $29 for 90 grams it would cost way too much to feed 20 budgies.

One bag ends up being about a month’s worth of chop for my two birds.

Bird Tricks is pretty expensive for all their products which is too bad because it's just too pricy for lower income parrots.
