Does anyone know where to find this silver piece? My parrot is breaking them, and escaping. We have hired a behaviorist for my parrot to help. I don’t want to purchase a cage quite yet because my parrot is deconstructing his. We wanted to hire someone with a lot of experience with this before we spend $2000+ on a cage that isn’t meant for this situation.

I can’t find this part on eBay anymore.

What is the brand of cage? I would search for ā€œreplacement door lockā€ for that particular brand and size of cage. You need to have the screw holes line up.

I've contacted Preview about parts within the last year or so. I have three of those cages. Well, Baxter's is the flat top version, but basically same cage. Humongous relatively cheap cage and they work well for my flock, but I've always thought they wouldn't hold up to a Mac or an aggressive bar chewer. Mine just don't bother with the bars, other than Baxter and the hormonal stuff she's been doing lately, but that's a whole different thing šŸ™„šŸ¤£There's a contact form:
They emailed me back with a price quote. Wasn't instant, but they did contact me. Otherwise, there's a phone number on their website that might work

Oh, the Silverado cage is model 3155S in case you're needing it :)

It is a prevue cage. I am going to email them. I need those larger food dishes too as they got dented really bad being thrown around the cage. No, I didn’t do it šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Thank you so much

He’s just snapping the bars off now just for fun instead of bending them. I don’t think this macaw cage is going to be working out for mine. I’ve been trying to find a stainless steel one that’s large enough that isn’t $5000. The search continues.

Thank you, I’ve contacted prevue pet about this specific cage. It came with my macaw when I adopted him. Maybe they can repair it? Maybe it really is just poorly built. I wasn’t sure if it was just my parrot, or what the issue is. Maybe cages just don’t last long anymore? I’m waiting to hear back.

Thank you for suggesting a sturdy cage. If that’s the issue I’m going to need it.

I have a Prevue macaw cage which came to me with a rescue. Anakin the U2 would regularly dismantle it. Bending and breaking bars.
I can't believe Blue hasn't turned it into complete scrap metal.

I suspect it's not just your cage. As I said, I've never thought mine would hold up to a big mac or too beak. The bars really are very thin, but it's a huge cage for the price. Great for my needs, but not for one that's determined to destroy/escape. Most of the large cages from the bigger brands are much more heavy duty. They usually list bar thickness in the specs so you have a frame of reference. I'd love stainless steel for my flock, but they're used to these behemoth cages, and anything remotely close in size in stainless (x3) just isn't in my budget.

I’ve never ran into this issue I don’t even know what to do. That pet prevue cage is huge. Cages that big and for a reasonable price are hard to come by. Not to mention they have to fit in my house so those huge indoor/outdoor aviaries won’t work. Getting anything used is out of the question. If there is a spec of rust he’s going to pick at it, and not stop. His behaviorist suggested reinforcing doors so he can’t escape. His resolution is to snap the bars right off. I’m going to have to find something. Now I really have to, and soon. I’ve never had to worry about bar thickness on a parrot cage before.

I haven't dealt with them personally, but I know our dear friend @SailBoat has purchased many cages from birdcages4less.com over the years and would vouch for their quality. Kings cages has merged with Bonka bird toys, so those might be some sources for you. Otherwise, I agree, A&E has some solid offerings as well. I'm disappointed to find out that Midwest has discontinued the Avian Adventures line. Baxter came with one of theirs, and it was rock solid, just too small so we upgraded for more space, but as you know, the giant preview cage isn't an upgrade in durability by any means. Fingers crossed for you to find something good for your determined baby šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž
