is the interior cage dimensions 22x24x29 or is that with the seed catcher. And would this be ample space for a GCC?

wow! very nice! The size sounds good..I have something similar but 2" shorter width-wise. So far lots of room for a bunch of toys, and for her to climb and hop around. Not big enough for her to fly around though, unless I take all her toys out

also found this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Parrot-Wrought-22x22x60-Play-Top-Black/dp/B004WPSPX8"]Amazon.com: New Parrot Bird Wrought Iron Cage 22x22x60 Play-Top *Black Vein*: Pet Supplies[/ame]. Not sure what the actual interior cage dimension. The thing I'm unsure of is if the dimensions given include the seed catchers.

I would think that is plenty big, either one. That is as long as you plan on having your bird out a lot, if not the bigger the better! :)

If you have the space for a larger cage, I'd definitely recommend a larger one! Those cages are pretty tiny, especially when you factor in dishes, toys and perches!

The blue cage is probably 18" x 20"???? It says the exterior dimensions are 22 x 24...

I'm not sure I'd trust the black cage as the dimensions in the description is not the same as the title.

Here's some larger cages.

I'm pretty sure my Sun's cage is even a bit smaller than that and he is fine with it! I might get him a bigger one because I love to spoil him, but I don't think he cares much either way. Although I always have it open when I'm home (though he spends most of his time in it even then) and am only gone for about 5 or 6 hours each day.

Here is a picture of Lukah's cage.

These are better suited for your GCC. I own it for mine and recommend it to all my buyers. I like the A&E or HQ brands the best (multiple companies make that model). If not the exact same cage, the size is definitively the best!

Sorry to tell you but your cage is way too small for your Sun Conure unless used as a night cage only. Conures are very active and need plenty of exercise and stimulation, which means plenty of perches to climb, swings to hang from, different types of toys, basket with foot toys even a bird bath would be nice (as with most Conures, you need more than 1 water bowl because they are Dunkers). If he is in it for more than 1-2 hours daily, this cage is not suitable.
And even if "fine with it", he'll be even "more than fine" with a bigger cage, believe me!

Thank you for your input! However, I think he's just fine in it right now. He has plenty of toys and is never bored and does not have any behavior issues. I am going to get him a bigger cage eventually, but I think this is fine for now. If he starts acting out or displaying behaviors that suggest the cage is inhibiting him mentally, physically or emotionally I will get a bigger one on the spot but he has not done so yet. Also he does not bathe in his water bowl yet... he hates water, actually and only enjoys being misted.

I know bigger is better, but at this moment I don't think he's going to die if he doesn't have the biggest cage offered.

Also I've been saving up to buy him a bigger cage, but I probably won't be able to afford one for a month or so now! But I'm getting closer!

i have to agree with Echo. the cage is rather small for a bird of that size and activity level. i notice your description in your mini-profile says he is 7 months old, meaning he is still young. that's not enough time to say he's "fine" in this cage. if you can afford a larger one, i would get a larger one now before you have problems with behaviour, rather than wait until you do. it would be better for his well being :) just my two-cents.

EDIT: just saw your previous post :) yes, i would definitely work on a bigger cage for him, and for now try to let him out for as long as possible so he doesn't start feeling the effects of a smaller cage :)

You are right, Kellie, he won't die and I always make the recommendation, then it's up to people and their budget to get what they can afford.

In this case, it is within the price range she is looking at and more suitable for her GCC.

I am saving up for one! But I won't have enough for it for a while. I think he is okay for now. It's not like I'm purposefully attempting to injure his mental and physical well-being haha. I know that the bigger the cage the better, but right now this is the biggest cage his mom can afford with all the money I spend on his toys, perches, organic and fresh foods, etc.

So I'm saving up, I thank you all for your input, and you could be a bit kinder in your assumptions about people and assume that they are trying to do the best for their bird that they can. Not everyone has thousands of dollars laying around to spend on a whim (though I've already spent at least that in the few months I've had him).

EDIT: I understand you guys are trying to help and thank you for changing your post after seeing I really am trying my best, but honestly if anyone is on a blog site about their bird that they post daily on, obviously they are trying their best to do the most they can for their bird. I just see lots of kind of back-handed criticism of the owners on here and I think if we all just realized that everyone loves and wants the best for their bird it could make the communication a little bit more thoughtful and helpful than negative.

I got this one, HUGE for my bird! He loves it! You can also pair it with this and it works great! We just got a play gym for the top of the cage for him to play on. He never uses it though. :-/

We are saving for this. :-p

Hybrid Bird Cages : 72"H x 144"L x 48"D H3 macaw cage, African Grey cages, Cockatoo cage

With a divider it will allow me to create a conure cage that is 3 foot wide and 4 foot deep. Than the Macaw that I will be getting will have a HUGE cage for himself, all in one nice big walk in package. Of course I am no where close to having the money for the basic cage. :-p The divider would need to be acrylic as to not allow the Macaw or Conure to interact so they don't hurt one another, or the more likely scenario the Macaw would have a conure snack. :-p

don't get me wrong, i totally understand that :) i meant no offense and i apologize if i have hurt your feelings. your first post made it sound like you were not interested in getting him a larger cage, and i had posted my last post while you were posting your previous one, so i had not seen that you were going to buy him a larger cage eventually. so, i apologize if i seemed rude

@Kellie

your cage is small, but being your saving up for another one than I would say your good! From the sound of it he gets a lot of out of cage time with you so I wouldn't be worried as of right now!

Take your time and save for a bigger cage and don't feel like you need to rush it. The cage I posted is great and I know a lot of people use it.

@baron & everyone else

I've been saving up for this one.. would this be appropriate?

Kellie, I also agree with the other two posters!

When I got my mitred conure, he didn't come with his original cage (I don't know what cage it was!) but he did come with a small cage that was still an "ok" size. At the time I didn't have the money to afford a larger cage right off the bat, but I saved up for one! Ended up buying a used cage.

I don't have any photos of the small cage... at least not the entire cage itself.... but I do have a video if it? Well, not sure you can really gauge it's size from the video either... lol

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yUz6X4R3FY]Charlie in his cage - YouTube[/ame]

The cage I bought for him was 40 x 30... put everything from the old cage into the new one... and OMG!!! The cage is empty!!!!!

CharlieCage01.jpg

I later ended up selling that cage and buying the next size down, a 32 x 23! (well, got it from my brother in law actually... and paid for it some years later... lol) After the 40 x 30, it felt far too small! Still have it!

I don't recall how long I used a small cage for, but I upgraded when I could! And you mentioned in the past that you had the same plans so you do what you can for now! :)

The one you are looking at is a good size! I've got my RTC (she's about 116 or 117 grams now?) in an HQ Flight Cage which is 32" L x 21" D. Seems to work fine for her so far!

Kellie

That cage looks fine! A lot of toys and your good to go! :-p

Nice size but You might just want to inquire about the thickness of the bars as Sun's beaks are much stronger than the GCC, and I know that the cage I have which is the same but from a different manufacturer has bars that are too thin for bigger Conures.....
As much as GCCs can benefit from a flight cage, it might be too flimsy for the large Conures.
