today was the Canadian National Bird show...I have been waiting months for this weekend, hoping and praying myself or Sarah would not be sick and miss it.

I came home today with just a gorgeous breeding pair of Fischer Lovebirds.
the male is Olive, and the female is dark green.

I named them Bosco & Pixel. they are so tired from being carted around from Guelph Ontario, which is a 2 hour drive, then being at the bird show, then to my home, the poor things are pooped right out. I put them in my aviary and they have settled right in for a good nap,lol

when I took this picture I woke them up.
Bosco (male) is on the right half asleep, and Pixel(female) is on the left.:rainbow1::rainbow1:

I think they are just stunning!...and will produce beautiful babies

They're beautiful! I try not to bring anyone home when I go...lol....I was tempted to bring home a plucked citron cockatoo, I felt sorry for that bird....

Very beautiful!!!

...lights out early tonight, it's not even 7pm.

I thought they could use the extra z's, and start fresh tomorrow.they seem quite happy in their new large cage, and that they can hide for now.
I have 4 months to get them into good health, before breeding.

I have to be honest, I LOVE a bird show, but it is so HARD on the birds....they are extremely stressed, being transported from place to a strange place, temperature differences, being grabbed by potential customers to view them, only to be either purchased or thrown back into the cage. this goes on Saturday and Sunday.

I also saw a breeder standing at a table with a lovebird wedged between his two fingers holding the bird so he wouldn't get bit....he stood there and talked to the vendor for about 5 minutes before putting the bird back....what an idiot....

I saw a pair of parrotlets today, literally hiding in the corner of a show cage(show cages are only about 10" long, and about 6-8" high) I felt so bad for these pair, they were absolutely terrified.

anyways, all I know is my pair have a good home :)

Beyond beautiful!

Congrats! They are darling! There was a bird expo this weekend but my aunt came down for the first time in 40 yrs. so it didn't work out. :/ But if anyone on here went I hope you all had a good time!

PS. I love their beautiful stunning colors! :D
