Aalexandrine parakeet named Sweetu.
My love birds are ready to breed. So I put a box in their cage and then put some chaff of wheat in it. They were very happy with the box. But they started to chew the chaff and then throwing it all outside. So now, they have very little chaff in their box. If they lay eggs they might get broken, because of the hard surface. So I was thinking what if I put some cotton it their box and they chew it too, then is it dangerous for them?

Thank you

Please don't breed your lovebirds if you don't even know what materials are safe for the nestbox!! Just because they seem like they want to breed does NOT mean you should let them!! What happens when they have chicks and reject the babies and now its up to you to feed them around the clock, provide a brooder and make sure they survie??? Dead babies for those inexperienced. Take the nestbox out and give htem some toys to play with, I promise they will enjoy those too and can live a happy life without reproducing.
