I know many say that Gcc aren't big talkers but as we all know they do talk. my previous one started talking at 9 weeks and said hello, pretty boy Daddy and baby before he was killed :( and he lived with a sun conure.

Now my question is my 2 Gcc that i have at the moment are currently about 7 weeks old living in same cage but seem to be bonding differently and im wondering what the chances are of at least 1 of them starting to talk, its probably a bit early but im hoping 1 will at least be vocal. Dexter is the louder an d cheekier of the 2 at the moment.

here are my sweeties

So no one has any views on this?
I have people telling me that they wont talk because there are 2 of them living together. I find it hard to believe that could be a reason seeing that my previous baby spoke whilst living with 3 other birds.
It really doesn't matter to me if they do speak or not. just curious if anyone has 2 that have grown up together and talk

My sun conure is 8 months old. I've had her for 2-3 months and she hasn't even said anything close to a word yet. I don't have experience with conures before this one but it sounds plausible that they would have a higher tendency to talk if a human is their only companion rather than another bird. Just a thought :)

My conure is solo & he's starting to gurggle out some sounds that sound like 'hi bubbi' which is how I greet him. There is a pet store I have gone in many times and they have a conure who talks and he lives with a B &G Macaw, African Grey, and Umberlla Cockatoo but there are no other conures..... Maybe spending time with them one-on one will encourage them to be vocal....

They have very limited talking abilities, although my Dusky conure was fully cognitive, and could speak in context... He was also the best trick bird I ever had!

So, it's possible, but not probable.

I haven't heard any words from mine or the previous owners. Froggy will make frog noises while sunny will click in rhythm with you and does a side to side head movement with you and make a whimper when we do. He also makes a horn noise when we leave the room cause he's either sad or mad.

I was told its rare to have a conure talk

You will increase their chances of taking if they are bonded to YOU, not each other. If they are bonded to you, they will want to communicate with you, via talking! :) if they are bonded to each other, they are happy going all day chirping :P

Yeah they will definitely have a better chance of talking if its a person-bird relationship rather than bird-bird, bird-bird-person, etc. Bi-lingual birds aren't uncommon though, so don't get your hopes down! A friend of mine has 4 Macaws, all over 10yrs old that all have pretty extensive vocabularies and definitely spend more time with each other than with their human counterparts. Just depends on the birds really I suppose!
