My cockatiel tootoo (about 3 years old) started behaving a little bit abnormally today. He pees a lot and gets puffed up more frequently than other days. His droppings seem to be normal and whenever he pees clear liquid comes out. Other than those two symptoms nothing else seems to be off. He is pretty active, eats normally and sings like every other day. there has been no changes in his diet and the house is always at a constant, high enough temperature. Sadly for us avian vets dont work at weekends so i cannot take him to the vet till Monday. i'm quite worried and i'd like to know if anyone knows what could case those symptoms and what could i do to help him during the weekend. Thanks for your time.

a fluffed bird is serious. Get to the vet Monday morning, maybe even call their service and see what they say now.

Provide extra warmth above abd beyond, 80-85 f

Provide all treat and tempting foods. Sick burds burn 2 times the normal calories.

Birds are usually very sick if tgey show any symptoms.
I recently had very sick burds and some of them tge only symptom at all was weight loss.

When dealing with sick burds you should weigh every day. A well burds you should weigh every week. Use a digital kitchen scale set to grams. % weight-loss gives you info. take weight lost divide by normal x 100 = % lost. More than 3% seek veterinarian even if no other symptoms.

Of course you have a fluffed bird and some poop abnormal so more that enough for an urgent vet visit.

I can't stress enough that supporting warmth is very important, above normal house temperature. It really helps them heal, saves calories ect. Those cafe warmers are great we have members use. I use tge sweeter heater as sold on Amazon.
