Hello all! So, it's like a switch flipped on confetti Sunday evening, and since then she acts like a baby whenever she is around me, and constantly is trying to regurge in to my mouth. And she is *really* insistent on trying to do it in my mouth. Now, I know human mouth bacteria is a BIG no no, and I can't let her stick her beak in my mouth, is there anything I can substitute to make her happy, not sick (and most importantly, though perhaps a little selfish, so I don't have to eat bird vomit :52::52::52:)

Other than that, she has just entirely opened up which really surprised me since it's only been 2 weeks. I still need to post pictures!

LOL oh she loves you!! :11: Try to head this off before she starts. Cut the cuddles before it happens. Are you up to date with how to pet your parrot so as not to over stimulate her? Use this time differently - these birds are intelligent so play with her, teach her things, tricks, songs, whistles, high fives. Hopefully you will have no more bird vomit issues?:)

BTW are you doing any form of basic training with her? My train of thought is that it is all going in the wrong way, too much, too soon, which will lead to problems sooner or later.
If you think it is all lovely now but it leads to a problem parrot later on that isn't going to be good for you or her.

I confine most all of the petting to her head (top, back of neck etc). The over-stimulation usually comes from petting the lower back right? I remember reading something about it (on these forums somewhere I believe heh) but I've been really saturating myself reading, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if i'm still dotting a few T's and crossing a few I's.

Also on a related note, confetti literally went from biting the crap out of me at most opportunities, to turning in to a love-puppy, over-night. I expected her to warm up eventually, that was never something I had any doubt about. The transition just seemed incredibly spontaneous to me, and lacking in the catalyst department. Unless she just decided that the fact that I let her take chunks out of my hand was endearing. lol

Its also wings, under wings - full body stroke.

I think she's well happy with her new home but I was trying to stress that you do not want it to go too far so as to create problems as undoing things aint always easy. She is seriously bonding with you. Perhaps let the other family members have a turn in getting to know Confetti and take the heat off you. If I remember correctly you have children etc so she needs to be a family member not just overly bonded to one person?

Oh definitely. My wife is a stay at home mom, so she spends several hours a day with her. Probably a bit more time than me honestly. And then she spends a good portion of the rest of the day in/on her cage (we keep the door open) or on a stand unless we are asleep or not home. She is really good with my wife as well, still very sweet, she just doesn't turn in to a big baby like she does with me.

The girls are still working up courage haha. They both like to come scratch her head when my wife Or I are holding her, they just aren't quite ready to hold her. I think they find the beak a little bit intimidating still, since they saw me get a couple decent bites.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I spend more of the day out of the house, where-as my wife is usually within sight/ hearing. Or maybe it's behavior that is carrying over from her previous owner, and it's only started showing up now that she has gotten more comfortable.

Oh, and I appreciate the advice. I've already put it to use actually! When she started getting a little too lovey, I had my better half come get her. In the future we will either continue to do that, or put her on her stand.

Confetti is a very very very cute name. I love it!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! I wish I could take credit for it, I was just lucky enough her original owner had good taste in names :D:D.

Hi, be careful you are not projecting for her to be a baby and encouraging it. If I remember correctly mine did this for a little while. If you let her it will continue. Maybe there could be something in the female to male bonding thing or you just have shown her most love and kindness or just personal choice.

Bites could just have been the settling in period and testing the water/nervousness. Ask your girls to be confident and kind with her, use soft eye motions, no staring at her. Talks softly and give her treats. If had enough pass her onto someone else as in 'warm potato'.

Pleased to hear you have and you're welcome. :)
