My conure, a rescue that we thought was a boy, started laying eggs. She laid an egg and then 2 days later laid another. Our vet told us to remove them, which we did, and to try to get some calcium into her via a cuttlebone. About 9 days later she laid another egg, which we removed. In the meantime I started researching and found that you should NOT remove the eggs. Yesterday, about 2 weeks after the third egg - she laid another egg. We have left it in her cage this time, but she seems to have no interest in it. Now I notice that she is eating bird droppings. She must be needing some nutrients that she is not getting. We feed her Vita Parrot from Higgins. We will take her to the vet in coming days, but wondered if any of you have practical experience in these matters.

Birds will eat droppings and such no matter what age they're in even when they're chicks. They'll eat stuffs they shouldn't of be eating. Provide her a mineral block as well. Let her be with the egg and see what happens. You can rearrange the cage as well to deter her from laying anymore eggs.
