Long story short...I discovered my Kyleigh being mistreated at the breeders. He also tried to get me to take her home in 2 weeks, she is 6 weeks old. He also planned on "not feeding the bird until she learns it is time to eat." Nonetheless, I took her from the breeder, thank goodness I have already paid for her, and took her to another place to be hand raised. This place/person had been recommended by the avian vet as well. I won't give the details, but my gal is happy and healthy.

First car ride! Headed to her new temporary home!

We played, we sang, we cuddled...we slept.

And then this guy tried to play big bad macaw with me.

If I have learned anything from this situation is to not trust someone just because they own a parrot. Study them, find out more about them, and most of all, a smiling face can cover up a lot of evil on the inside.

Thank god you got her out of there in time! I'm so sorry it worked out like this but I'm glad she's with someone who will treat her right.

Wow. I'm all choked up reading that. It must have been horrible for you. I'm glad you were able to get her out of there and into the hands of someone who will feed and hand raise her properly.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong. This fella taught me tons and let me handle his birds and everything. But there were some sure fire signs I just couldn't ignore. Mainly him smoking while hand feeding and uncleanliness. And then being dishonest. Blah. Not here to down talk him, but rather praise by knowing my baby is safe. I'm still taking her to the vet on Monday.

I am SO happy that you were smart enough to get her out!! You are going to be such a wonderful parront. :) <3

What a day for you, Stephen!! I'm glad that's over and done with, I'm THRILLED your Kyleigh is in capable hands!! Looking at her precious face in those pictures, she was completely unfazed by it all. :)

Very VERY well handled!!! ;)

I think everything just caught up to me about an hour ago haha. The new feeder is sending me pictures and Kyleigh looks happy, and in a very CLEAN environment. She's even playing with toys now!

I'm so sorry to hear that your precious Kyliegh was being mistreated, but kudos to you for being a very diligent and observant parront! I'm happy to hear she is doing well at her new temporary home. Will you be able to visit her while she is there?

Yup! Ironically she only lives about 3-5 minutes from the last fella and has a blue and gold that doesn't come to anyone outside of family other than me lol. I'll be there a lot!

OMG!! Did you have steam shooting out your ears!? I am so happy your baby is out of the situation. I feel bad for any other chicks that may come into his care though. There are alot of people out breeding to make money and not for the benefit of the birds, if anything a good breeder about cuts even on cost instead of making a profit. Please keep us updated on her progress.

Good on you, and yay for having someone else who can hand feed close by! Bet that was an unexpected development...

Have you ever seen a black guy turn red before? Because I am sure I did lol.

It was definitely a blessing that we did not expect whatsoever. But I will take it!

Wow. Reading this thread puts your other one into perspective. I read them out of order, but I'm even happier now that you got Kyleigh away from that other breeder!

And I'm loving all of the Kyleigh pics! Is it just me, or does she seem to be smiling in almost every photo?

So what was the good word from the vet?

Yeah, I learned my lesson dealing with breeders and people in general.

Haha I hope she's smiling. I want her to be very happy. She does this funny head bob when I scratch her feet, then she falls asleep. It's great.

She is healthy and not showing any side effects! They mentioned i should bring her in about 8 weeks to check up.

Well done for being so decisive in the moment and taking the right steps!

Great that the baby's doing well :) She's adorable :)
