dead budgie?

a week ago we bought 2 xtra breeding pairs of budgies we put them on top of our fridge for a hour so until we had finished our shopping upon returning one female was dead on the bottom of the cage so put the rest in the avery and dead on in bin in kitchen as we had to take out that night did that as planned but a week on and the bidgie was just found flying around kitchen what the hell.......

sorry, a little confused. So you bought 2 budgies, one just dropped to the floor, you then threw them in the bin, then a week later that same budgie was flying around the kitchen alive and well?

I have so many questions regarding this but here are the chief among them.

1. Why did you put the alive budgie in with your others if the other "died" surely that's reason to believe that they have a disease which can be spread to the rest of your aviary and kill all of your birds.

2. Why didn't you check them for breathing/a pulse before announcing death?

we assumed stress as killed it the budgie was stiff when we got home it wasnt moving at all

never assume anything. Stress of moving is highly unlikely to kill a budgie save for extreme circumstances

you need to get that budgie to a vet as being in garbage for a week isn't good for it

Sometime later, it was discovered, the little tyke recovered, crawled out, and was in the house for a week!

the body was stiff but was flopping but ive been told by a breeder it could have been stress and was out cold or playing i tend to believe the first explanation more than the second though

well, stiff and flopping are not the same thing. floppy means not stiff. either way, happy to hear there were no deaths.

heartbeat. Possibly my medical training being too ingrained but whenever I see anyone/any animal unconscious my first instinct is to check for a heartbeat followed by checking for breathing
