She is among my Ekkie sites i have bookmarked and there is a fair few. One thing I have learned is how there are so many people what say one thing about pellets and others something else. There is a fair few "specialist" yet I would say regarding pellets there is a fair few who say give organic and then others dont. One thing what has left my head in a spin. I was only talking to the guy whos had over 100 parrots. he provides seed and pellets for uk zoo's & he said he feeds his 70% fruit and veg 20% his special seed with hardly any sunflower seeds and 10% organic pellets. He has the midland parrots website. The over riding thing where everyone agrees is fruit and veg ha ha.
That's because there are differing perspectives and little evidence. A vet will tell you - ive gotten this lecture twice now from my vet - that crafting your own fruit/veg diet can easily create vitamin and mineral deficiencies, especially micronutrients. And it's true. But as long as you provide a significant variety of foods, you'll cover the spectrum of required nutrients.
Theres inconsistent anecdotal evidence at best that pellets can cause issues. Well, someone here saw that a little too many blueberries of all things caused her issues.
Given that we know so little about the food requirements of eclectus, mimicking the best we can their natural diet is the safer route.
