Do we have any gardeners among us?

Thank you for sharing your gorgeous garden, Wendy. Your blooms are magnificent!

Wow! You have some serious garden guests. I think those moths are a little larger than some of our hummingbirds. Love your Hydrangea and Hibiscus. Sweet pic of the butterfly and Liatris.

Oh my goodness, Wendy!
Everything looks so beautiful over there!
You sure do have a green thumb!
We recently moved, and everything looks so horrible, and I have no idea where to begin!
Are there any flowers you specifically enjoy near or against buildings?
We just built a Chicken coop that now seems a bit too close to the house for good looks.
If it's not too much, I can snap a picture and you can fill me in on your expertise. LOL
I'm sure whatever info you give will be GREAT!

Where did you move to? Are you still in Maine? Yes, snap some pictures, and let me know what colors you like, I'd love to give you some ideas!! :D

And THANK YOU!!

Yes, we still live in Maine:D
We just moved 20 or so minutes away, about a a year ago.
It's weird, because we used to live very rural, and it still is, but we're a little closer to a busier road, and we have neighbors now.
I'll go snap a few few pics of the Chicken coop now,(don't mind the hideousness:09:, we're not very....beautifully creative?)
And with the one or two pics, I'll say a few colors I like.
Of course I could just look up kinds of flowers, but I feel you really have a knack of combining them and stuff. :D

Wendy, your flowers just blow me away! And that picture of the Hummingbird moth...WOWOWOW! Loved the video as well, your yard looks so beautiful even with the rain:)

I have a yard the size of a postage stamp, that we don't use, because actually it's about 105 out there in the NO SHADE. Thank you it's air conditioned in here.

And since it is that hot, all my pretty weeds have now turned brown, so I don't have to mow until it cools down...

My front yard is an oak tree. We sit out there. There is shade, and the birds can play in it.

Giving me a plant, is the equivalent to giving a plant a death sentence.

I have the opposite of a green thumb.

Okay, I took a few pictures excuse the mess!
We've been renovating the outside, so yeah. xD
I like any sort of flowers or plants, but I would prefer something that goes over the gap between the grass and the coop.
Would little flowers look better than bushes or shurbs there?
I like any colors, but prefer white, blues, and reds....
I love those thick pink flowers a few pages back, though!
Hmmn...do you know about any viney flowers that could climb up some of the chicken wire?

I'm just now seeing your response and pictures. I am SO sorry for the ultra late reply. :(

WOW, I LOVE your chickens!!! And man, you've got oodles of room to plant stuff!! :D AND you basically have a clean slate. Sweeeeet!!

Let's see. I immediately thought of either a trumpet vine or a wisteria for a climber over the chicken fence. Both are very hardy, but can also be very invasive. :54: I don't think you'd have to worry about them being invasive though...not with all that room you've got. Trumpet Vine bears trumpet like RED flowers in the summer, and hummingbirds LOVE them! Wisteria bear long, purple flowers in the spring that smell heavenly.

As for whites: There's the famous and heavenly scented Mock Orange. You could give the dwarf variety a try. Quite hardy and low maintenance.

Then there's the Hydrangea Paniculata. Also extremely low maintenance, and a long blooming period: Hydrangea paniculata - PeeGee Hydrangea

Look for butterfly bushes. They, too, come in many different shades of colors and are super low maintenance and easy to care for.

If you like roses, but want think they are too high maintenance, look into "Knock Out" Roses. I swear, they're as low maintenance as you can imagine. :) The Knock Out® Family of Roses | Star Roses & Plants

Daylilies! They come in all shapes, colors and sizes, come back year after year, and even multiply. Daylilies: Frequently Asked Questions

You must know your gardening zone before you go out and purchase plants though! Maine Interactive USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map

The plants I listed are quite hardy, but I don't know if all of them are hardy enough to grow in Maine.

Wow. You certainly know your plants, Wendy. Quite the floral specialist.
