So, Nigel and I have an ongoing argument. He has learned that I don't like my ears to be nibbled on or my glasses to be chewed. He knows I don't like it because MOST of the time, he stops when I say, "Leave it alone Nigel."

But every once in a while (like this afternoon) Nigel chats on my shoulder saying every word in his vocabulary and nonchalantly nibbles my ear and glasses. I keep telling him, "Leave it alone." But, to no avail.

So, I stop what I'm doing and lecture him at length that I don't like my ears and glasses chewed. He doesn't like pin feathers touched so I respect that now what's with this disrespect of my request?

We chatter for some 10 minutes like this and then I say...I'm arguing with my parrot.

He's smarter than me.

#thisisnigelsworld;)

This reminds me of a video I saw on youtube where a guy argues with his cockatoo for like 10 minutes straight. I think we all know who won that one.

Yesssssss! I argue with Jolly whenever I'm prepping chop! Maya sits patiently through the admittedly slow process, but Jolly likes to try and hurry things along by gently scraping his beak against the beard stubble on my cheek. Not the rubbing motion he does when he's being affectionate, mind you. It's this scraping thing. Not painful in the least, as he's very gentle about it, but he knows I find it annoying! Hahaha! Same with nibbling gently on my ears. He knows I'm not a fan of that, so he only does it when he wants me to be quicker with my chopping.

And all this despite the fact I hand them some morsels as I chop! So ungrateful!

So yes, I fuss with him. And he patiently sits there on my shoulder and cocks his head as though listening intently to my every word... and then slides that beak along my cheek or nibbles the closest ear once again! Smh.

I must admit, I do love the fact that it constitutes an element of higher level communication. He obviously does these things to communicate his impatience, which implies a rather impressive understanding of my likes and dislikes. So yes, there is a slight smile on my face even as I fuss with that lovable green imp! Lol!

Oh, yes. My parrots are mouthier than my teenagers. I tell them no and while they comply, they squawk back in what has to be the most sarcastic tone a parrot can muster. They all do it.

YES!! I argue with BB all the time.. LEAVE MY EAR ALONE!!! He thinks its his personal sparring partner  But when I turn my head and look at him...and he comes right up to my face and says " BB A GOOD BOY??" lol..
Well...we all know who won that round :o

Perjo and I do not argue, in part b/c she doesn't talk yet, but even within her limited range of communications we don't. What we do do a few times a week is have to talk over each other, b/c each of us is stubborn about getting our point across when we want to.

There are times like right now in which Perjo just wants to whistle and sing and just plain make noise, and I'll try to ask her questions or make sound requests and she just ignores me and becomes louder.

She will actually listen when I command her to listen. I think she is starting to understand what listen means and how to execute such a command.

I argue with my parrots, very seldom do I win!

No!

Rule 1: They are always right
Rule 2: See rule 1

:D

Argue with the Rickeybird?
Not for 10-15 years... the last time I tried to stand up for myself.
I can't tell you how it gladdens my heat to see that there are still some noble humans who assert themselves... however unsuccessfully...
Sorry!
Not.
