My conure keeps repeating one word/phase too. The funniest thing is that he knows what he says - he sees someone eating something and he will start saying different combinations of "good" and "have nothing" (in Polish) to tell us that he has nothing good to eat and will stop after he gets something to eat

It must be so funny to us Englush speakers to hear a parrot talk in Polish! My father's parents (Janiszewski) were from Poland and I rembember my Polish grandmother speaking the language. You should post a video of it! That would actually be a cool new thread- posting videos of parrots talking in languages other than English.

That can lead to embarrassment. Had a Spanish-speaking bird sitter. I don't speak it. Long story short, Nameliss spoke Spanish to a couple (they were speaking it) on an outing. I was complimented on such a sweet, polite bird. I was too embarrassed to ask for a translation. I now live in fear. My daughter watches anime in original Japanese. The language can be a bit rough and rowdy. What (when) if she speaks Japanese to someone?

I have a few videos of him saying a few words but I never shared them here because I didn't see any sense (also, I never recorded a moment when he talks a lot, it's just single words)

You really shouldn't fear your birds' volcabulary. Most reasonable people wouldn't pass judgment on the owners of a bird that picked up a few colorful words along the way. Birds love those words because they sound fun and get a reaction out of people. Amost everyone I know at least occasionally uses curse words and as long as they are not directed at someone or used deliberately in front of the ultra sensitive, l don't have any problems with it. I have even less problem hearing them out of a parrot because it's not their fault and they don't know what they're saying. I hear parrot owners say "What will people think of ME if my parrot curses?" and to that I say who cares? I wouldn't care about the opinion of anyone who thinks less of you because your parrot says curse words, much less foreign language curse words.

I agree ip to a point. My CAG uses words appropriately to much to be coincidence. An occasional swear I can deal with. It's the insulting and explicit that I worry about. Some of the anime my daughter listens to is rough, bawdy and definitely insulting. Innocent words in different tones can be insulting. There's a few children who dislike Nameliss. They met her on outings. Why? Because, Nameliss calls them bird. Kids run up to her saying something along the lines of 'what's your name bird...huh, don't you know your name bird. So she associates the word bird with kids. After all, she's Nameliss! One little girl asks me if I ever taught my bird what a little girl is. I and her parents struggle hard not to laugh. I reply; not yet, I'm working on it.

I'm in hysterical laughter! I can barely type! Nameliss; 'yelling my daughters name, loudly and often.' Then; what do ya want Namelisss, huh, what do you want. This in my daughter's syrupy and questioning tones. Over and over and over etc! Nameliss puts her name in a sentence in response to a question. I told my daughter after the several minutes the first time that maybe she could've taught her something else. She did....wolf whistle...Oooo laalaaa Nameliss...wolf whistle...you got it girrrllll. Nameliss's ego won't permit saying only her name! Still

I have a habit of calling anything cute "baby bird" including dogs and small children. I see a bird, any bird and I say Baby Bird! To me, all birds are baby birds! Even things that aren't cute are "baby birds". I pick pack and ship online orders at Lowes and I sometimes talk to myself while I work. I'll say something like "I need one of these baby birds" as I pick a plumbing part off the shelf. I know. It's a very strange habit that shows that I've spent too much time raising baby budgies. The experiences have had a huge influence on my life.

My BOSS (wife) taught Gracie to wolf whistle for treats. Although I think sometimes she just likes to see the BOSS jump up and get the treats. They have a real love/hate relationship. Although Gracie mimics practically every sound the BOSS makes....right down to sneezing and passing gas.
