This last summer I marched in a drum and bugle corps called the San Francisco Renegades. We went out to Annapolis, Maryland all the way from California for finals. My god the humidity....it was like 98% we thought we were all going to die. Not to mention our uniforms are in all black!!!

I play the mellophone when I do marching things ....I have the hot pink Borat MANKINI on if you can spot me LOL. This was our final run thru before finals competition that night at the navy stadium.

I should probably add that we wore the manikinis since it was our last official practice before finals and every section did something goofy. The mello line was pretty crazy!

Living where I live. I can understand about the humidity...here in SE TX..its bad. Very tropical....all year long...I miss the snow :(

Are you going to do this again??sounds like you had fun..except for sweating to death I'm sure..

Annapolis.....navy town if ever there was one....

Drum corps rocks!! I've been a pretty hardcore fan for over 20 years now, and is nice to see others who appreciate the activity. I was in marching band in high school and loved it, by no way I could have ever been in a corps, so big props to you... mankini and all! Keep up the tradition!

And as my user name indicates, I am a phan (after Phantom Regiment)

You guys are fantastic! :)

Thanks! I aged out of Blue Devils when I was 21, since I am 27 this weekend *cry* the Renegades are a senior corps if you noticed some grey hair and big bellies out there :)

I wanted to do it again this year, I did it from age 15-21, then at 26 was my first year in an all age corps. I really need to take summer school to finish off my degree and marching in a corps is a HUGE time commitment so I had to back out this year. Next year I will probably be in it again, they want to tour the Netherlands!

I marched in Blue Devils, Troopers, and Yamato. Yamato was such a blast, that corps is from Japan and we needed a translator for rehearsals, everything had to be said twice....amazing how the language of music can connect us when we didn't speak Japanese and the members from Japan didn't speak English --only their staff

I have to say I was slightly disappointed... Your mankini was over other clothes. I was expecting mankini only! LOL

I actually live in Massillon, OH, which borders Canton, home of the Bluecoats.

HAHAHAHA, believe me we were asked to wear it only lol. noooooooooo way!!!! okay I should have said mankinis and bikinis!

How fun! When I was in high school I went to a drum crops show at the earthquakes stadium, it was all the competing bands but that show wasn't a competition.

Amazing stuff!

Thanks! It was fun, we got a really bad score though, almost didn't make it to finals. We actually have a lot of people in the corps marching around in their 40's-50's, one lady in the baritone line is in her 60's!! She is really hardcore! The other corps we were competing against had FRESH age outs stacked in their group so....they were all 22 year olds, no one over 30 for sure. It's not really fair competition but ....hey we had fun! We actually got banned from DCI drum corps International because the hotel we stayed at complained to the city about us ...even though our president checked in with the hotel staff desk every day asking if everything was okay. I guess those 50 year olds created a raucous! So ...the city then complained to DCI ....DCI banned us for the year and fined us 3000$ .....they are still doing local shows, they just cant go to championships. Sad :(
