Cody-Blu, female Blue-Crowned Conure, Hatched - (approx) June 1, 2014, in a South Florida tree.

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
Really? Can't they do better than this?

(I don't want this stuff on Pritti. Took 3-days for this dye to totally fade from my skin, and I barely touched it. I know it's "food grade", but I don't buy food products with dye, so why would I want toys with it. Plenty of people avoid food dyes.)
Otherwise it seems like a nice toy with stainless hardware.

i bet it's possible to make this toy using untreated lumber and dowels but make it without the dye :)

but if it rubs THAT much, then yes that's a little overboard and i wouldnt want my bird that dyed. i've never had problems with dyed toys, unless after a bath. a freshly bathed bird brushing up against a dyed toy isnt fun. dally had pink spots on a few feathers until she molted them out once. but i've never seen dye rub off like that when dry

I ran mine under water and let it dry. I ended up taking mine apart and stringing the toys on sisal, I worried about Rosie's head getting stuck.

I boiled Mishka similar toy in boiling hot water 3X, worked like a dream all the dye came off.

Does not look as pretty but I am pretty sure Mishka is 100% safe and I sleep better knowing that.

I just finished soaking it for an hour in water and baking soda. The red seemed to be the one that came off the most. To me, that means they put way too much on there.

I like Antoinette's boiling idea. Am gonna give it a quick cook-up now, lol.

Chocolate, avocado, caffeine, and salt are all food grade too. But that can't be used as a qualification for birds to snack on it. Good choice!

I was SO tempted about this particular toy, but after seeing what Sam got his head stuck into, I stayed far FAR away from this one. :)

I ordered this toy online, but I also boiled it and let it dry until the dye did not come away from it. I shouldn't have bothered though, the macaw specific toy was destroyed in as little as 10 minutes by my Alexandrine. Little green destroying machine!
