Māui (white bellied caique)
Does anyone’s caique have days where they pig out on all the food provided to the extent that the next day they don’t really want to eat?

This week Māui pigged out on literally everything I left for him during the day (I work) so I came home one day to find he’d demolished everything left in the foraging wheel, part ball, cup and pipe forager, plus he’d sought out all the treats I’d hidden in the cage toys. The next day I came home to find he had barely touched anything, he had eaten but just not much and he did eat scoff his dinner down.

He’s gone back to eating normally now, but I’m just curious if anyone else’s birds do this sometimes?

My background is with Amazons and they can have super Pig-Out Days, Weeks and sometimes Months. But the next day, they have tended to eat at a normal rate, well for an Amazon... :D

I believe you have a younger Parrot and I have heard of such events with younger Parrots.

With luck one of our Breeders will stop by and provide guidance.
