A cockatiel named Poptart
Hello,
i just have a question, I have newspaper on the bottom of Poptart's cage. I have noticed that he is now tearing it and chewing it. I am not sure if he actually swallows it. It this ok for him? I am worried he will get sick.

Thank You :)

Biggest concern would be any bacteria that has gathered on the tray, rather than actually ingesting the newspaper. If it isn't black and white the ink may be hazardous, though.

My fids all love chewing paper, napkins, cardboard, etc. But they don't eat it. Loki will grab a piece of toilet paper and bounce up and down with it :D Most of the time they just chew, not actually eat.

If there is a way to place a grate between the newspaper and the bird's area that would be ideal, so he can't get on the bottom with the droppings/dropped food/etc. :)
