Does anyone know what essential oils are safe/unsafe for a bird to be exposed to? I have an oil diffuser that I use at night that helps with my husbands snoring but I haven't used it since bringing Quinn home. Normally I would put peppermint/eucalyptus/lemon.

Also, I want to take him in the shower with me but I use a natural soap that has essential oils, Dr Bronners castile soap. Normally the ones I use are eucalyptus, peppermint or almond.

With essential oils it's all about the quality and brand. I use doTERRA brand and I diffuse everything except arborvitae and tee tree (melaluca) SP*

I have never put any oils on Zilla or in her food, but I diffuse everyday most of the day. I also put the oils on myself and don't worry about her getting them on her feet because I know they are 100% pure therapeutic grade and have gone through many tests before they were sold.

I would NEVER use a drug store or healthfood store brand. They are NOT regulated by the FDA and even if the bottle says 100% pure they can be only 3%.

You could use the UNSCENTED castile soap and put your own oils in if you get the 100% pure therapeutic grade oils, but I wouldn't use the already scented ones, you have no way of knowing if they would be safe. Even if you use the 100% pure oils I still would try not to get the soap on your bird.

If you want more information please feel free to PM me and I will help if I can.
