I am so happy! I set up a breeding cage for Malachite and Azura a few weeks ago, and over the past 7-10 days Azura has laid 6 eggs! I haven’t bred with my birds in around 2 years, so I am so excited for this experience. Here is a photo of the parents (Azura is blue, Malachite is green) and their eggs - managed to snap a photo when Azura climbed out for a second! They should begin to hatch around the end of February into early March, so watch this space! I will post updates and pictures of the babies when they arrive.

Congrats! You know that shavings are important to prevent splayed legs, right? Your pair is lovely!

Yes definitely! She just kicks the shavings all out and then I replace them haha. Have to do that a lot [emoji23][emoji23]

Sounds good! I have a hen who does that too; I just would have felt terrible if I assumed you were replacing them and then you ended up with splayed legs. Budgies seem to be extra determined to eliminate shavings, too. Not sure why!

Woohoo eggs! I love the miracle of life, am considering setting up my pair this spring and hand-feeding the babies. We'll see! Love these pics!
