Found an egg in the water

The first thing I though when I saw the egg in the water -- huh!! A water birth!! LOL

Glad you have managed to stay egg-less for a little while. Glad you took the advice of the members here. The changes seemed to have helped!! I have a breeding pair but decided not to breed this year. Luckily the male is obsessed with the mirror in his current cage and so that kind of keeps his mind off nesting and he flirts with himself.

UPDATE!!!!!!

They were at it again! Even though I tried and tried....

She laid her second clutch of 4
1st egg laid November 3rd, every two days she laid her eggs.
Now, after me and hubby discuss the pros and cons, me not fully agreeing we kept the second egg for her to raise (have to admit I’m kind of excited too)

Today makes the 25th day and the chick hasn’t hatch

I’ve read that it can take sometimes up to 28 days; remember that the tiels are not a bonded pair and she needed to raise it all on her own,

The schedule: took her out to poop and to eat (she neither poop nor eat inside her cage) at 7 am, around 1 pm again to poop, she lets me now when she wanted to go, she stretch and do some flying laps and there she goes back in again, then again out at 6:30 to poop and have dinner

She laid inside of an open carton box, (inside a separate cage) with nothing in it, I tried to put different things inside but she kept pulling it off, finally she accepted paper towels and shredded paper (all white only)
I know I have made lots of wrong things (much regretted)

I candle the egg on the 10th day, it showed red veins , and again on the 18th day, on this day the egg was darker and had white part on the bottom

Now to yesterday, I noticed her when she was out to dinner being her old self, found it weird , but still she went out and sit on her 3 eggs (she left one on the side)

Today, in the morning schedule when I open the cover I noticed she wasn’t laying on the egg and there was her first poop, weird again, she got out to breakfast and as soon as she finished they were trying mate again!! I moved and they got scare so they didn’t mate, I wanted to took her to her cage but she kept flying away, the insisted on mating and I kept distracting them but failed at the 4th time, they were flying and ended up in the kitchen cabinets and at the time I found something to distract them they mated...

Guess she has a strong desire to be mommy because of her insistence of mating .

I can hear her moving inside her covered cage

I want to start the hormonal timing, totally black nights, they already sleep in separate cages from 7 to 7,

Now, how do I know if the chick is fine?
I’m so sorry for been so foolish so naive

The chick is most likely dead at this point. If she's not laying on it constantly and keeping it continuously warm, it will chill and die. At this point - 28 days - its likely not going to hatch. 21 days is the normal range for hatching cockatiel chicks but sounds like she may not be incubating, or it may not be fertile. You could keep the egg until day 32 just to be sure but after that it will start to stink and turn bad.

Also.... having chicks should not be taken on by those inexperienced. Say she does have chicks and both parents refuse to feed them.... what do you do then?? You will likely end up with dead babies in that situation and heartbreak. You can certainly let them mate -- nothing wrong with that -- but the idea to just let her have babies because she has instincts is ignorant as a parrot owner. They can still live a happy, fulfilled life without reproducing.

100% following what itzjbean has said. If she isn't sitting on it 99% of the time it would be dead.

Another follower here for not letting babies happen. It's a nice thought but can go ugly quick. Plus don't forget the expense of raising a baby bird and then caring for another bird on top of what you have

Lesson learn the hard way.. I'm so embarrassed!
totally agree with what you are saying,

I got rid off the egg,
what should I do with the eggs that she has? I mean, she confuses me, mostly she doesn't show any interest in them, but she goes and check them out and wants to sit in them and then she goes away. Should I keep them a few more days? should I cage her with the eggs or should I move her to her old cage with the other tiel?

how can I prevent them off having babies if they continue mating?

they don't have any dark and cozy corners in their cage, although when they are out of the cage, there's one kitchen cabinet they always fly to, I'm looking in ways I can block that out, they sleep from 7 to 7, since last night totally dark room also I'm looking in to low energy foods,
