UPDATE!!!!!!
They were at it again! Even though I tried and tried....
She laid her second clutch of 4
1st egg laid November 3rd, every two days she laid her eggs.
Now, after me and hubby discuss the pros and cons, me not fully agreeing we kept the second egg for her to raise (have to admit I’m kind of excited too)
Today makes the 25th day and the chick hasn’t hatch
I’ve read that it can take sometimes up to 28 days; remember that the tiels are not a bonded pair and she needed to raise it all on her own,
The schedule: took her out to poop and to eat (she neither poop nor eat inside her cage) at 7 am, around 1 pm again to poop, she lets me now when she wanted to go, she stretch and do some flying laps and there she goes back in again, then again out at 6:30 to poop and have dinner
She laid inside of an open carton box, (inside a separate cage) with nothing in it, I tried to put different things inside but she kept pulling it off, finally she accepted paper towels and shredded paper (all white only)
I know I have made lots of wrong things (much regretted)
I candle the egg on the 10th day, it showed red veins , and again on the 18th day, on this day the egg was darker and had white part on the bottom
Now to yesterday, I noticed her when she was out to dinner being her old self, found it weird , but still she went out and sit on her 3 eggs (she left one on the side)
Today, in the morning schedule when I open the cover I noticed she wasn’t laying on the egg and there was her first poop, weird again, she got out to breakfast and as soon as she finished they were trying mate again!! I moved and they got scare so they didn’t mate, I wanted to took her to her cage but she kept flying away, the insisted on mating and I kept distracting them but failed at the 4th time, they were flying and ended up in the kitchen cabinets and at the time I found something to distract them they mated...
Guess she has a strong desire to be mommy because of her insistence of mating .
I can hear her moving inside her covered cage
I want to start the hormonal timing, totally black nights, they already sleep in separate cages from 7 to 7,
Now, how do I know if the chick is fine?
I’m so sorry for been so foolish so naive
