This little Rooster showed up at my house. He is basically blind in both eyes. He has been shot with probably a BB gun in the back of the neck. He had blood running from his wound. I cleaned his wound and applied antibiotics. Put him in a small dog pen with a shed, gave him lots of feed and water, petted him and told him he can have a forever home here and he crowed for the first time yesterday. He can't see me but he knows my voice and comes to me so I can lead him to his feed. He has gained weight and looks so much better after two weeks of love.
Please be kind. I know he is just a chicken, but homeless is not just for humans. He is my friend.

Bless you, Caroline, for taking in that sweet rooster and giving him a home filled with love:)
Allee also told me about the sweet budgies and lovebird that you rescued, and it is obvious that you and Allee have the same sweet, incredible heart.
I am so glad you joined us here:)

Good for you! Your kind nature will be rewarded. I hope your rooster continues to do well! Make sure his home is predator proof from dogs, cats, raccoons, oppossums and so forth. I've have lots of chickens and consider them just as worthy as my parrots. They do give me eggs for breakfast!

What a sweet story! :) Welcome to the forum.
...and as far as people being kind here, you'll find it's about the nicest forum you'll find. The mods are very proactive and keep this a nice environment for everyone. I've seen nastiness commonly on other forums, but it's not tolerated here.

He's so blessed to have you. Do you have any pics? What a lucky rooster! ♡♡♡

What a lovely story:) Does he have a name yet? Sounds like he'll have a wonderful life with you!

Poor Fred!!!! [emoji33] so glad he found you and you gave him another chance at life!

We'd love to see pictures of Fred!

Re: Fred "The homeless Rooster"

Thank you, everyone for welcoming my MOM to this great forum!

We live ten minutes way from each other, so she knows all my babies. All of my Fids adore my mom. Back in November, she took in a pitiful little parakeet that was so starved she was very close to death. She had spent over a year in a little girl's dark closet, cage and all, she was plucked nearly naked. Mom spent enough money at the vet to have bought a far bigger bird. This is the bravest bird I've ever met! Her name is Sparkle. A lot of her feathers will never grow back due to permanent follicle damage. When Mom brought her home you could see her bones.

As you can see she's a big girl now and the feathers she has are in lovely shape. She's a funny, happy, girl.

Freddie the homeless rooster in the above pic. He's a very sweet guy and follows Mom by the sound of her voice.

Didn't intentionally mean to hijack your first post, Mom, but I had to brag a little because I knew you wouldn't. I'll let you introduce the rest of your characters. Please don't forget my Pow, the world's orneriest cat. Kisses.

Welcome to the forum Caroline!!

You will LOVE it here, This is the Nicest Forum I have ever joined
(something about bird people LOL)
So Glad to have you here with us, your daughter is just the sweetest person

That rooster looks like he is doing MUCH better, GREAT Job !!

Thanks for the pics Allee

Welcome! That's a great thing you did adopting the poor rooster. I love my chickens (9 hens) and spend nearly as much time watching and taking care of them as I do my exotic birds :) So amusing to watch them in the yard.

Sparkle is so cute! What a lucky birdie. Aww, Fred is gorgeous! He must love those hugs♡♡♡

Welcome! I think it's wonderful that you've rescued so many from a bad situation. Without people like you who knows what those guys would've had to go through.

Your story is so heartbreaking but so beautiful at the same time that these birds found you! Sitting on my lunch break with tears in my eyes right now.
You have a beautiful soul!
