galah talking?

any way to stop my galah from saying a certain word?

Not really. Best you can do is reinforce the hell out of something else. Don't react when he says the undesired. Any kind of attention for it will only make it attractive for him.

My ekkie has the s-bomb in his vocab. He only says it maybe twice a year. When he says it we pretend we don't hear it otherwise we would be hearing it more often.

Start to teach him new words. If he has another word he's good at, reward the heck out of it and hopefully he'll choose that one instead when he wants to be heard.

what's the best way to reward him? tried different fruit, he's scared of it. I talk back to him when he talks but it would be nice to give him a treat as a reward now and then.

My galah loves sunflower seeds - these are only used as behavioural rewards. For my IRN, it's almond slivers - same deal. Both birds respond actively to an excited high pitched 'Good Boy' too.

You just have to find what motivates your bird. Parker will chase me across the house for cheese, so some training sessions include cheese. He also loves popcorn so I have some here and there throughout the house for speech training (trying to get my ekkie to talk in front of people. He only talks when you're out of the room) b

So true! My current and past Ekkie would not speak in my presence. Funny!

To answer the OP question, there is no direct way to erase a word. Ignoring it is best. Too much attention given may result in the word used far more often!!!

Walnuts, almonds, Nutriberries, fruit work well as treats - keep on talking to him and as said before don't react to 'the word' and it's use will lessen especially if he is still learning new words and phrases. You will unfortunately probably still hear it from time to time because they don't tend to forget them completely.
