GCC odd after boarding

Hi guys, long time reader first time poster haha. We have an 8 month old GCC. We went on vacation and left him with a very good friend and owner of a trident cockatoo and a dusky conure. He was in good care and spoiled. Since he's been home for the past few days he's very quiet and has seemed to have lost all his voices and a few tricks. Still knows play dead but seems to have lost his loving side. Is this just readjustment to another new place?thats my guess but just wondering if anyone has experienced the same. Thanks guys!

Birds are flock animals. It's tough when you leave, and when you put them with their own species (birds, not necessarily a particular type). I bet you he is a little bit upset to not be interacting with someone all day everyday, like they were meant too.

gosh..I'm worried about this kind of thing happening too. I'm really not sure what to tell you but to maybe go back to your regular routine before you left and hopefully he'll remember the good ol days. Please keep us updated!

Yes, parrot get upset when their flock changed. They can tollerate environment change, but not flock change. That's why I have to take my Lily on vacation when the whole family is going. I took her camping with us for a week, she was still normal when we came back. If we go on vacation by car, that's easy enough to take her along. But last summer when we have to go from CA to NC to visit my parents, I had to spend $250 for her Delta airfare. She still come back and acting normal 2 weeks later. She still remembered her daily routine when she came back. She can fly so her daily routine does not involve us to be there to guide her every time.

Thanks for the help guys. It seems he is getting back on track. He's using some words like he used to and just now when I got home he knew he was going to be let out and got excited like always. He also knew when the dogs were about to go outside and let me know they were out. Things are looking good. This is my first green cheek so thought I would ask the experts! Thanks again!
