Gemma is lost

Today as we were changing our lower roof, our balcony door was slightly open. Gemma was in a completely different room but it seemed as if she planned the whole thing. There were many turns before reaching that room. Then she flew straight to the bottom, scurrying out onto the balcony and setting free.
It all seemed so quick, there was no stopping her. I know exactly where she is and she hasn’t moved for hours. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I’m somewhat assured at the sounds of her screaming in the forest but I’m also saddened at the fact that she isn’t eating or drinking. The area where she is is not accessible for me.
She’s very close to the house. She just screams and whistles. I’ve tried to coax her down, she knows how to descend but she’s not trying whatsoever. I haven’t seen her but I know she is there, no bird screams like that.
I’m heartbroken, I keep shouting her name and all she replies with is a scream.
I’m losing my mind trying to find a way, does anyone have any ideas?

So sorry....what a nightmare..

Placing her favorite foods and drinking water on your deck or nearby, bringing along her favorite birds if you have flock-mates, looking for her all of the time, but especially at sunset and sunrise (when they are first active), putting up flyers, posting on Parrot 911, Twitter, Facebook etc etc. You can buy or make bird traps (make sure they are safe) if she doesn't come to you directly.

Does she like chips/crisps? If so, you can try crinkling the bag when she is near.

A ladder may be needed if she is scared to fly down...My uncle's very accomplished flyer of a TAG once landed on his shoulder right as he was walking out of the house (I was young, but I remember it and it REALLY scared my uncle..he is still very serious when he recalls the event, even though it was 25 or more years ago). TERRIFYING. She flew 60 feet up in a massive (150+ year-old oak tree) and wouldn't come down. My uncle was able to get crazy extension ladder somehow...Neo (the bird) climbed onto him when he got up there and rode down on his shoulder. Having witnessed this bird crash my birthday parties and randomly swoop around corners at all angles, I know she was a great flyer, but something about that height and the unfamiliarity made her unable to go to my uncle, even though she wanted to.

If yiu can pls e her cage on a roof or up high? Many birds that escape stay in one spot and may come to yiu close to late afternoon, evening. Or first thing in the morning.

I’m so vet heart broken for you. My Quaker escaped and was chased out of sight by mocking burds. I haven’t been able to find him sbd it’s iver 2 months so I feel the pain.

If yiu have to go on someone’s property do it, ask fir forgiveness after. Try and call calmly, it’s hard but they pick up on our fear, and that makes them afraid to fly to us.

Parrot 911 has advice online on how to help retrieving them . I pray hard you get your baby back!!!

Great news, Gemma was found!
She was found on a windowsill while we were organising ladders and people.
Her smell is very intense. I’m not sure if that’s because she was outside so long or..?
I’ll keep this thread updated on how she continues, Thank you all so much, I appreciate your help and support.

Excellent !!
Often they are dehydrated
Applesauce is considered a recovery food for the water and sugars. Maybe offer a spoonful to help her.
I would also spritz her , a nice soaking , but don’t let her get chilled. Incase she got into something bad , that is making her smell

Quick Update:
Gemma quickly returned to her normal self a couple days later.
The first two days she was the sweetest bird, all she wanted was to sleep in my hands. She didn’t want to leave my side, she craved for cuddles all day long... not in a hormonal way, I know the ‘rules’
She’s all well now but I do miss her loving side that she no longer shows.
I’ve tracked her weight and she has gained most of what was lost.
