So I got a young 'tiel from the breeder the other day. Told it was two weeks out of the nest so around 8 weeks. Breeder is pretty certain it's a male. I 100% disagree and think female. What do you all think? Mother was a cinnamon and father was a wild type no idea on splits aside from the obvious pearl. The wings aren't usually drooping like shown in the pictures. Still really skittish as it's new so constantly ready to fly when I am near the cage

There's no way to tell at this age just based on visuals. Some breeders think feeling the pelvic area can indicate male or female but I don't think it's a steadfast rule. Unless you get a blood test you won't know 100% until the baby molts. If it retains the pearl then it's female but if the pearl starts to disappear then male.

In 100% she is female. From standard male and cinnamon female it's impossible to get male Pearl baby

That's what I thought Rozalka but it's been so long since I dealt with the breeding and genetics of 'tiels I thought I'd ask here.

Sadly she passed away overnight. She was fine sitting on the perch no signs of anything and next thing gone. Contacted the breeder but no reply as yet.

I'm so sorry, this baby was probably sickly by the sounds of it. I would get your money back and go to another breeder who is more knowledgeable and does disease testing.

Never heard back from the breeder. Just have to write it off as a bad experience and assume it was probably my own fault. I was super busy and not paying enough attention nor did I ask the breeder the right questions.

I am sorry :(

I would be a bit concerned about your other birds---I hope she was quarantined because she is a powder down bird and diseases can be spread via powder.
