Hello, I just purchased an Indian Ringneck Parrot. He (I think) is 7 months old and I believe a turquoise mutation. He is a little shy but steps up and doesn't nip at all. Snce he is an older baby will it be harder to teach the bird to talk? Any info on these guys would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think the age will matter. I recently adopted a cockatoo who is 14 and he's already learning new words.
I have an irn, but he doesn't really talk at all. He's 3 1/2. My other 3 are chatterboxes, but every bird is different.

Lucky you. Indian Ring necks are some great talkers and have the cutest voices of almost any bird. I love to listen to them.

Also realize that they are LOUD!!! Almost as bad as conures... I have a very old man. He talks pretty well and does the cutest little things. I have never met a person that doesn't fall in love with him within the first 10 minutes of meeting him.

Howdy...wishing you all the best with your new IRN..My IRN Indi (avatar) is 8 months old...avairy born...so I have a lot of work to do.....at least your new bird steps up & allows you to be close to him...hopefully Indi will allow me with time to come... But they are a truley beautiful bird & have the cutest talk.
Thanks
Kristy....

Good luck with your new baby! I love IRNs. They are so comical and fun...as long as the bluffing stage doesn't get too frustrating LOL. Every time I think we are over the hurdle with Skye he turns into a sassy stinker all over again :-)

congrats on the new baby. Pics?

so how is it going with your new IRN? they are my favorite bird. i miss my Bette so much, she has been lost for over a month now with no sightings.
she was almost 2yrs old and was still saying new things. the last thing she just picked up was "come on, come on" which is what i was saying to her to get her to step up. they are so comical and oh so pretty.
she was most eager for food! she would almost fall off her perch when she saw me with the nut jar lol !
i sure hope she is ok, and i am still hoping for a miracle to get my sweet IRN back.
lets see some pics of your new baby!!
