HIya! I know that birds are fussy when it comes to food. I wanted to share what I make for my bird, Azure, about once a month or so. It is like a vegetable stew, but we call it goo because we never know what is going to end up going into it. It is vegan and salt free!
Base ingredients:
Tomatoes
Zucchini
Yellow squash
Frozen pea, carrot, and corn mix
Red/orange/yellow peppers
Extras
Frozen Mexican vegetable mix instead of or in addition to the basic mix above
Jalapeno or other hot peppers
sweet potato or other hard squash
onion
additional corn, frozen or fresh
potato
rinsed canned beans (we use, red, white and black beans)
Whatever veggies you wish!
My don't list is broccoli. It completely takes over the flavors and personally, I dislike the smell.
I thick slice all vegetables that need it, lightly spray with canola oil and then roast under the broiler. I then chop everything into biggish bites and cook together until everything is mixed. I will add garlic and onion powder also oregano and black and/or white pepper.
Yes, there is a lot of flavor and this is perfect for vegan/vegetarians. I will mix with whatever carbs we are having for dinner before they are flavored. She'll get a half of a grape or some other fruit for dessert. Most of the time she will eat what she wants and leaves the rest. That is ok with us as long as she eats something healthy. I freeze in small containers and take one out as needed. I only heat it up a bit in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
