Got a Lilac Crowned Amazon tonight

Hello! I havent been on here in almost a year! Tonight I got a lilac crowned amazon. His name is Elivs and he is 17 years young. I kept seeing him at my local bird store for a year now and finally asked why he was there so long.They said no one wanted to adopt him because he was so old and people dont like old parrots . He originally came there because his owner put him in boarding and didnt come back for him Poor guy. He is soo mellow compaired to my bfa. It is crazy. So is this normal lilac behavior? I also know he is older which makes him mellower too. Is there other people who have had experiences with this species?

It's so sad the owner didn't return for him and that nobody wanted to pick him up because of his age.. What they didn't know is that 17 years isn't old for amazons.. If you feed him and let him excercise well he will live for another 40-60 years.

You did an excellent choice bringing him home. I know he will be living happily with you.

Yes it is. They are the mildest mannered zon out there.

My own LCA just turned 43. So, yours isn't so old.

I got her at age 35 and she had already been rehomed several times before I got her. She's very sweet, but she isn't a talker, and wasn't what people expected...
