Grok and questions about A.I.

I have chatted with Grok on a number of topics but keep going back to my problems with Bingo.

But early on I asked a straight forward question about how the A.I. worked. Specifically does Grok retain information from previous Q & A sessions.
Its answer was an unqualified no.
I think this was unfortunate because I have to explain Bingo’s condition every time I have a new question.

Yesterday I was blown away by some answers Grok gave me that shows it DOES or is able to pull up info from previous conversations.

I was asking about the milk thistle I have been giving Bingo.

Grok mentioned two things that did not come up and had not been mentioned in this session.
Grok told me the address of my CAV, something discussed before but not this time.
And.

Grok mentioned that I like to sit with Bingo sitting on my chest.
I hadn’t talked about that this time either, it had nothing to do with the questions I was asking.

It’s better for me and I think better for the A.I. that it can remember previous conversations but why hide the information from the users.

Sometimes it seems to give me answers where it has no clue about what we discussed. Other times it refereces past conversations.
Recently I had a big work project so I used the subscription service because I am requiring it to remember our past conversations and pull from documents as needed.

Otherwise, you can have a running explanation that you cut and paste when you ask each question...

Grok may have found the information elsewhere on the Internet, so maybe not pulling it from previous conversations. It's hard to know where they get the information. Also, AI is continually learning and changing so it may be that when you asked that question, no was the correct answer but it's evolved.

I use AI for work and the answers I get sometimes are WAAAY off base.
