I was at the pet store the other day and saw this little fleece teepee sortie thing. I bought I just because I figured that if I find out that it’s not safe then I can return it. It’s fleece all over and I bought it for my cockatiels. It isn’t a happy hut at all. It reminds me of the little teepees that they make for dogs to sleep in.
Anyways, I was wandering if it is safe? I have heard that fleece doesn’t fray so I’m assuming that it is but at the same time I would rather be safe than sorry.

Return it - they are death traps for parrots, who chew everything. Seriously we have had several members here whose birds died of ingesting fibers from those. Get your bird a nice natural wood perch or a interesting wood toy with the $$.

Thank you so much for checking prior to installing. If it is a Happy Hut or similar, the risk of swallowing and grave injury or worse is high.

Check out this thread, what you describe is likely reviewed in the second post: http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-toys/38678-list-hazardous-toys-here-please.html

Many toy features are deadly. Leaded paint and/or heavy-metal (lead, cadmium, etc) construction, pinch points, sharp objects, etc are too common.
This thread gives some guidance: http://www.parrotforums.com/parrot-toys/38676-toy-safety.html

Yep, those things are terrible! Happy huts? More like sad huts when they kill or injure your baby...
