Yvons (M)- 17 yrs- CAG
I bought this:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00OVUBOAK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I figured it would be good for Yvons and Vortex to be safe from the cats and dog while playing. (I'm not planning on having them in it together. Seperate play times for them :D! ). It's looooong and about hip height. Maybe taller. Then I can use Vortex's cage, or the community cage, when The old boys pass on, for my little shark, I mean Green cheek conure, Quasar. Now to dig out all my extra perches for it. The coop should arrive on the 30th :D. And where am I gonna put the thing? I might have to play Tetris in the bird room and move art stuff around. OY!

You should check out the post from the new member asking about pionus.

What I did was hit a used store...like goodwill or those stores that are also a flea market, "not thru yet" kinda name just indoors and got a 1980s school desk for like 25 bucks and it is the perfect size for a cage to keep off the floor.

Smart! I may end up doing that!
LOL!

I would set it on a 3/4" (2cm) sheet of plywood a few inches larger and set the whole thing on two saw horses- one about a foot from each end- just to raise it off the floor. Set it on sheets of newsprint to catch the debris.
It's the bar spacing I want to know. Amazon doesn't say but it looks too wide for budgies except maybe the English budgies- they're pretty big with heads the size of cockatiel's heads.

I'm considering getting a folding table, similar to the one I have for my computer desk, and placing the coop on the table. It'll be a bit small for budgies, I believe. Borderline too small for green cheek conures and cockatiels.

I noticed it's galvanized. Not sure that's safe for parrots in case they chew on the bars and swallow bits of zinc. Whenever a cage says it's indoor-outdoor my heavy metal alerts pop up. I know a lot of people use galvanized wire that's not coated with PVC for outdoor aviaries and it makes me nervous.

Yeek! I missed it, saying it was galvanized! Thanks for pointing that out! Now what to do to prevent the cage from getting eaten...

Hmmm. They say to use a wire brush to make sure there are no loose bits. Other than that I'm not sure.

I SHOULD be okay after scrubbing it. Hrrrrrm....

I've heard washing in vinegar helps to cut the toxicity by ageing it.

I’ve also heard to use a vinegar wash!
