As (self-appointed) Australian Cultural Attache for Parrot Forums, I would like to wish everyone a very happy International Wombat Day and invite you all to join us in the celebrations today!

About 15 years ago someone decided this much-loved and unique Australian marsupial deserved their very own annual day of celebration and October 22 was designated as that day.

So please join with me on this very special day to commemorate all things Wombat, from "Fatso" the undisputed star of TV show "A Country Practice" to this lovely big boy in the NSW city of Wagga Wagga. I think you will agree that every day should be International Wombat Day!

Wombats, Binturongs, kockapos (sp?), tawny frogmouths and maybe beavers= favorite animals of all time....Loving this wombat day idea....
